Applications open for Co-Construction workshop with the RCA

I’m excited to announce a co-construction workshop at the Design Museum, taking place as part of the Royal College of Art’s annual Across RCA week of interdisciplinary and collaborative projects that explore new ideas, approaches and skills. Open to RCA students from all departments, the workshop will explore the construction site as a platform for exchange and learning. Based at the new Design Museum, due to re-open at the former Commonwealth Institute at the end of November, participants will help to build a new pavilion which has been commissioned as part of this year’s Designers in Residence programme.

Learning through a direct engagement with materials and site, participants will assemble the structure under the guidance of a skilled timber-framer. Alongside hands-on making, the team will document the process – through sketches, writing, film and photography. With input from the film-maker Alice Masters, and graphic designers Objectif, participants will contribute to a publication and short film which will be displayed at the Design Museum.
